never forget to remember

  • Starting off senior year.

hey xanga, it's been a while. lots of things have happened since I last posted on here, but it'd be impossible to talk about all of it - so, I guess I'll just talk about what's on my mind right now.

please just tell me what's going on. I feel so helpless not knowing, and it's driving me insane. I think about it all the time, trying to make sense of it all, but the thing is, I can't, at least, until you talk with me about it. I just want to talk so that I can get things straight and we won't have any more misunderstandings because I feel really lost right now.

worried about college apps, just like everyone else. but I can't focus on them very well because of all this other stuff going on, so I guess I'll have to wait until a little later to get started.

also worried about ACT testing and SAT subject tests because I have no time to study. taking them cold does not seem like a good idea, but I may just have to.

    want to go to homecoming.

gov is very fun, the people are so entertaining and mostly friendly. can't wait to find out our units! there are a few people who I'm hoping will be on mine, so I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best! I like the stuff we've done together so far, and I only hope we'll all get even closer.

  • More Junior Year Grade Posts :/

I realized that I really don't like half of the classes I'm taking this year, for one reason or another.

First off, there's AP English. Normally, I love English, but AP English just makes me feel like I'm in the military. Only, instead of drills, we rep essays, all in preparation for a silly test that CollegeBoard thinks will determine how good we are with the English language. I can't remember a time I've hated writing essays more, so thank you AP English and CollegeBoard for turning something that used to be tolerable, even fun, into a mindless activity that results in a colossal waste of paper and ink.

AP physics. I don't know what to say about this class. I just know that I need to do a lot of catching up. I can't say I like my teacher's methods of teaching; I'll have to read the book and study on my own instead. My grade in this class is very unstable right now because of the fast pace we are going at and the difficult material. I rarely have the time or will to sit down with my physics book and actually study, so my grades are less than stellar.

As for APUSH, I must say that my teacher is less than adequate as well, and it's all up to me to get a good grade on the AP test. I have a ton of make-up work to do in this class, too, which makes me more inclined to just finish up all his busy work and less inclined to actually learn anything about American history; it's a pity, since I'd actually like to know about my own country's history.

I do not know what to do. There are too many things going on, and, to go back to the analogy we always use, I don't like having multiple fires to put out. In fact, I don't like having any fires to put out; but nor does anyone else. I will have to get my act together (oh no, not again) and get the grades that I've worked too hard to let slip out of my hands now.

This will require extra effort on my part in English, which I have been trying to give, until all these essays began piling up. Nonetheless, I will have to push through it. AP physics means I need to actually concentrate and try harder, because I know I am capable of earning a better grade in that class. APUSH is a little more complex. First, I will dispense with the busy work my teacher gives us to secure that A. Then, I will crack open that book and try my best to catch up on all 30-some-odd chapters of reading.

Okay, now that you've got it all down, Flora, get back to work.

  • Dead Week

Not really dead this year: I have a test from every single one of my classes this year, including speech and debate.

[x] Study for calculus test tomorrow. Need to make sure I can get an A.
[] Relearn physics. I forgot everything.
[] Make up APUSH notes for chapters 19, 20, 22, 23 and the PSA, and presidents' sheets.
[x] Do English extra credit by seeing the play Friday.
[] English Rhetoric on the Town project.
[] Actually read the APUSH book.
    [x] Cut speech.

Lots to do. I will be so glad when finals are over.

I'm waiting for this year to end so I can do some college research and start planning for my future. I wish I could get a headstart on it, but with everything from all these classes, I really don't think I can handle any more on my plate.

Edit: Day 1 of finals is over! It wasn't that great, but it's over now. So now, I need to cram in all that APUSH homework that I put off until the last day, of course... haha! Then tomorrow, it will be English project cramming time; not fun. The weekend will be time to learn those chapters (15, 11, 12, and now 14) that I haven't even touched so that I won't fail next semester. A little time to catch up on APUSH and memorize my speech would be nice too!

  • For Homework Purposes

I feel like I've been too much of a lazy bum lately, and I've been letting my grades drop. My priorities are all mixed up and I don't really know what's important to me anymore. So, I'll use this blog for homework purposes for a while, until I can get back into shape, school-wise.

    [] Berenice: Individual Section
    [] Study physics, cumulative
    [] Buy APUSH prep book
    [] Read chapter 14
    [] Memorize calc formulas
    [] Practice speech

  • I miss those days.

I miss those days when we could spend time doing nothing with our friends. I loved walking the streets with you, aimlessly, carelessly. And spending as much time as I pleased with you, no worries. I miss spending time with you, you, you, you, you, and you. Even with you, and you. I just miss so many things so much.
